Will The Dramatic Drop In The Stock Market Impact Real Estate?  

We're well aware that the FED will soon be back on the road to zero interest rates simply by default let alone necessity. However, with the stock market in a downward spiral approaching bear territory this certainly impacts bank values as well and their ability and/or incentive to lend money for anything let alone housing.

 

 

We all know real estate is local. Some markets are hot while others are cooling off if not turning flat. But we also know that the economic meltdown in China has caused hundreds of billions of dollars to flee looking for a safer and more robust place to park.

 

So where will a lot of those billions be going? China and other foreign economies are taking a serious look if not making plays for American cities suffering from urban blight i.e. Detroit, the Rust Belt and other areas in dire need of gentrification.

 

Perhaps in some respects we can look at it as a positive. But how will this help American citizens who won't necessarily be benefiting from this directly? Or until such time as they will be able to either purchase or rent these revitalized areas?

 

Is it time to start rethinking our real estate strategies a little? Or just keep on keeping on? If it's working for you then certainly don't try to fix it. But if your particular farm isn't working why do you think it's not and what will you do to fix it?

 

I know I'm bouncing around a bit but so to is the stock market along with the local and global economies. Some pundits and economic experts think we might be heading for another recession or at least a real slow down. What are your thoughts? What will you do?
